Serving on the S&F Board
The S&F Board meets once a month during the school year. The meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of the month beginning at 6:30 p.m. Board membership is a three-year commitment and does require some work in addition to attendance at the meetings. Typically, S&F Board members do not chair S&F sub-committees but oversee the activities of all S&F programs. In addition, S&F Board members decide how the monies generated from the various S&F sponsored fundraisers will be spent.
If you are interested in serving on the S&F Board, complete Board Volunteer Form and return it to the School Office no later than April 1st. The Nomination Committee of the S&F Board will then review all applications and contact individuals who have expressed interest in being on the S&F Board. Once all interested individuals have been contacted, the Nomination Committee shall present to the entire S&F Board a slate of candidates for appointment to the Board and a slate of candidates for the positions of President and President-elect for the following school year.
In establishing the slate of candidates, the Nomination Committee will try to ensure that all units (primary, intermediate and middle school) are well represented on the incoming Board. In addition, the Nomination Committee will try to achieve a balance of skills to ensure that the skill set necessary to oversee the activities of S&F is present on the incoming Board. Priority will be given to those who have expressed an interest in joining the Board in previous years. It may be possible to select new members by a lottery drawing if several candidates of equal merit apply.
