Homeroom Parent Guidelines
Queen of Peace Homeroom Parents support and assist the homeroom teachers in coordinating and/or carrying out selected activities throughout the school year. These occasions would include, but are not limited to, class parties, field trips, and special classroom events. Although the needs may vary, it has been customary to have at least two Homeroom Parents for each classroom.
Homeroom Parents are responsible for purchasing and coordinating the presentation of a class gift for the homeroom teacher's birthday, at Christmas and during Staff Appreciation Week in May. Each family is asked to consider contributing $10 per homeroom in the registration packet on the S&F Homeroom Gifts Contribution Form. This form and the monetary contributions are turned in by each family with the other registration materials and the money for each classroom is forwarded to the homeroom parents from S&F.
Parents who are interested in being a Homeroom Parent can volunteer by completing a form in the registration packet. It is also available on line (Homeroom Parent Volunteer Form). The Homeroom Parents are selected by a team of S&F Board members, who look for parents who have not had the opportunity before. Homeroom Parents are selected as soon as possible after the school year begins. In order to streamline the assignment process, the S&F Board is asking that volunteers be willing to serve as a Homeroom Parent in any of their children’s classrooms, not a specific class.
An informational meeting will be held for incoming Homeroom Parents in September. We will review roles and responsibilities at this meeting as well as answer questions and provide tips to help make the job an easy and fun one!
