S&F Programs and Fundraising

S&F sponsors many events and fundraisers through out the school year to provide:

  • enrichment opportunities to students above and beyond the curriculum provided by school tuition
  • parental assistance to the principal, faculty and staff in carrying out activities of the school

The following is a list of the events and fundraisers currently sponsored by S&F:

Artist In Residence - The Artist in Residence Program brings professional artists and musicians into Queen of Peace classrooms to work directly with students and enhance their experience and understanding of the arts.  This program creates unique hands-on opportunities for students of all grade levels to interact with local as well as nationally renowned professionals.  For additional information about this enrichment program or to help with the Artist In Residence program contact the Committee Chair.

Boo Hoo Breakfast -  The Boo Hoo Breakfast is held immediately after the school mass on the first day of school and will give parents of incoming kindergartners a chance to socialize and commiserate/rejoice over this milestone in their children's lives.  Volunteers are needed to help plan and serve donuts and coffee at rhe Boo-Hoo Breakfast.  For additional information about this program or to help with Boo Hoo Breakfast contact the Committee Chair.

Book Fair - The Book Fair is an annual fundraiser held in the Fall with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the school library.  Individuals to staff the event and gift wrappers are needed the during the book fair.  Chairpersons work with Scholastic Books, the school librarian and the parish center to organize the event.  For additional information about this fundraiser or to help with the Book Fair contact the Committee Chair.

Dinner/ Silent Auction- This annual fundraiser held in the Fall consists of a dinner and silent auction.  It is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal, socialize with other parents, do some early Christmas Shopping, purchase a special treat for yourself or a loved one and support the school.  This is a joint fundraiser between S&F and the Athletic Association.  The proceeds from the Silent Auction/Dinner support the athletic program at the school and other programs sponsored by S&F.  For additional information about this fundraiser or to help with the Silent Auction/Dinner contact the Committee Chair.

Field Day - Field Day is a day of games, food and fun for the entire school.  It is a celebration, held at the end of the year, where the entire school participates as a single community in team building exercises lead by the graduating 8th grade class.  For additional information about this event or to help with Field Day contact the Committee Chair.

First Eucharist Recognition - The First Eucharist Recognition is celebrated during school on the Monday following the Fall Commitment Mass for second graders.  During this event,  each child is presented with a small present (usually a cross)  to recognize their upcoming journey.  For additional information about this event or to help with the First Eucharist Recognition contact the Committee Chair.

Mr. Z / Red Apple-

K4 & K5 ice cream/ dessert social- The K4 & Kindergarten is a social event for kindergartners and their parents to get together and meet each other.  The event usually takes place around mid September.  Volunteers are needed to help organize the event, make arrangements for food, publicize the event and with set-up and clean up the night of the event.  For additional information about this social event or to help with the K4 &K5 Ice Cream / Dessert social contact the Committee Chair.

Market Day - Market Day is an on going fundraiser during the school year that offers a wide selection of high quality foods with a portion of every purchase going back to the school.  Volunteers are needed to help with the monthly Thursday food deliveries.  Volunteer duties include setting-up, filling orders and cleaning up.  Volunteers can work the number of Market Day Sales they wish (i.e., signing up to volunteer does not mean a regular monthly commitment).  For additional information about this fundraiser or to help with Market Day contact the Committee Chair.  You can also visit the Market Day website at www.marketday.com for additional information about the fundraiser or to place your order on-line.

Middle School Babysitting - S&F provides free babysitting during the Parent Teacher Conferences in the Fall.  The babysitting is done by middle school kids on the school grounds during the Fall conferences.  Parent volunteers are need to help supervise the babysitting during the event.  For additional information about this event or to help with the Middle School Babysitting contact the Committee Chair.

Pancake Breakfast - The Pancake Breakfast is a parish wide fundraiser sponsored by S&F for the benefit of the school.  The Pancake Breakfast is held every year in late January or early February.  Volunteers are needed to help plan the event.  In addition, volunteers are needed during the Pancake Breakfast to help with set up, clean up, work the kitchen, serve, run the games and take/sell tickets.   For additional information about this fundraiser or to help with the Pancake Breakfast contact the Committee Chair

Bagels with Bob- Bagels with Bob is an opportunity for parents to sit down with the principal over coffee and donuts.  During these informal meetings, parents have an opportunity to hear about the school and ask the principal questions.  Each session is geared toward a specific set of grades.  The sessions are held bi-monthly immediately following the 8:15 a.m. mass for the specified grades.  Volunteers are needed to help serve the coffee and donuts on the morning of the event.  For additional information about these sessions or to help with the Principally Coffees that occur through out the year contact the Committee Chair.

Redemption & Rebate Program - The redemption & rebate program is a series of ongoing redemption and rebate programs sponsored by S&F. The current redemption and rebates programs are:

 

Box Tops of Education:  Box Tops for Education is a fast and easy way to earn cash for the school.  To participate simply clip and save Box Tops from hundreds of your favorite General Mills products.  Each Box Top returned to the school in time to redeem before the printed expiration date is worth 10ยข to the school.  Box Tops can be sent to school or dropped off in the collection bins on your way to church.  A list of eligible products can be found at http://www.boxtops4education.com/.

 

Campbell Labels For Education:  Labels For Education is an easy way to help the school get free educational merchandise.  To participate all you have to do is to clips and save labels or proof of purchases from Campbell products.  Labels can be sent to school or dropped off in the collection bins on your way to church.  A list of eligible products can be found at www.labelsforeducation.com.

 

Box Tops Marketplace:  If you shop online, the Box Top Marketplace is a fast and easy way for you to earn cash for the school.  To participate, all you have to do is join the Box Tops Booster Club and them start every online shopping trip at the Box Tops Marketplace as http://www.boxtops4education.com/.  The school will receive up to an 8% rebate off eligible purchases made using this portal.  With over 200 participating merchants, you are sure to find what you are shopping for.  Information about the program and a list of participating merchants can be found at www.boxtops4education.com.

 

Target Take Charge of Education:  The Target Take Charge of Education is a rebate program that earns cash for the school every time you use your Target Visa or Target Guest Card.  To participate all you have to do is designate Our Lady Queen of Peace as the school of your choice for your Target Visa and/or Target Guest Card.  Target will then donate an amount equal to 1% of your purchases at Target or www.target.com made with your Target Visa or Target Guest Card to the school.   Target will also donate an amount equal to 1/2% of your purchases elsewhere when you use your Target Visa.

Staff Appreciation - Staff Appreciation is an ongoing event that recognizes faculty and staff throughout the school year and during staff appreciation week.  Volunteers are needed to help with the various events throughout the school year.  For example, volunteers may be asked to help serve breakfast, bake treats, plan a luncheon or assist with other special activities designed to support and recognize the school faculty and staff.  For additional information about this event or to help with the many Staff Appreciation events that occur throughout the year contact the Committee Chair.

Vision Screening - Every Fall a group of volunteers test the vision of the school children in 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th grades during school.  Volunteers are needed to help test the children's vision.  For additional information about the Vision Screening Program or to help with the vision screening contact the Committee Chair.

Volunteer Coordinator - Every year S&F compiles lists of individuals interested in volunteering for the various school events that were collected from the volunteer sheets included in the Fall registration packets.  These lists are then distributed to the various committee chairs for use in arranging for the required volunteers for each event.  For additional information about volunteering to help with any S&F sponsored event contact the appropriate Committee Chair.

Winter Dance - The Winter Dance is a 'themed' family dance usually held in the evening on the Friday of Catholic Schools' Week (late January - early February).  Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, decorating, clean up and manning the food stand.  For additional information about this social event or to help with the Winter Dance contact the Committee Chair.
